How it works

What is the format for a Speed Dating/Singles Event

When you arrive you will be greeted by our Ice-breaker hosts who will register you and supply you with your name badge and scorecard. You will be given the opportunity to unwind at the bar whilst the hosts run-through how the speed dating works and answers any questions you may have before the dating session begins.

The host will then start the event and each guest will have upto 20 dates. Ladies remain seated and guys move to the next table when they hear the bell.

Our speed dating evenings are organised so that there are plenty of breaks for you to grab a drink at the bar and mingle further with the other guests.

After the speed dating session has finished, don't go rushing off, as the evening doesn't end there - the bar stays open and the guests usually stay on and mingle to get to know each other better.

At the end of the speed dating sessions, guests take their scorecards home with them to enter their results on to our website. If someone you have 'ticked' has also ticked you, then you both have a 'match'!

You can then get back in contact with your matches via our messaging system if you wish to arrange meeting up again. Everyone's details stay live for around 6 months after the event.

How long does a Singles Event last?

A Speed Dating event typically lasts around two hours including breaks but will vary depending on the number of guests who attend. Most of our guests stay behind after the event to chat over a few drinks.

Other Singles Parties and Events generally last all evening or until the bar closes. These events usually start at around 7.30pm and go on until the early hours of the morning.

Please check event details for the exact start and finish times of the event that interests you.

How should I dress?

The most important thing is to wear what you feel comfortable in. A lot of our guests come straight from work, so suits etc. are fine however, remember that you never get a second chance to make a first impression

Do many people go on their own?

Yes! Around a third of women & two thirds of men attend a speed dating event on their own and this number is often higher for both our Singles Parties and Singles Events. When anyone arrives at our singles events we will endevour to make them feel relaxed and welcome whether they are alone or in a group. Having speed dated ourselves we know how daunting a first event can be so we will pay special attention to those who are alone and often introduce them to other first timers.

How will I know if I have any matches?

After the Speed Dating or Singles Event, you login to the Members Area of the website to enter all your ticks and check your matches. For each match you receive, you will see their first name, badge number, and photograph (if they have added one), together with their profile of interests and hobbies etc to jog your memory.

For every match created you will be given access to our messaging service for further contact

What information is given to my matches?

Once you have made contact with your match you are, of course, free to provide whatever contact details you see fit. We do recommend, however, that you take care with your own personal details and do not share them with people you meet at our, or any other, event.

What is your cancellation policy?

We are not able to accept cancellations, as the quality and success of our event would be compromised by an uneven ratio of males/females. However, if you are able to provide us with at least 5 days notice via email, we will be able to move you to another MySpeedDate event.
